Center for Psychotherapy, Spirituality & Creativity (CPSC) is a 501(c) nonprofit organization founded by Peter Coster. Since 2005, CPSC has offered quality therapeutic support to the Bay Area community.

Psychotherapy provides a rich opportunity for healing, growth, and evolution. Unfortunately, many people can’t afford the $180/session fee of the average licensed therapist.

With a dedication to providing affordable therapy, CPSC is helping to bridge the gap.

Because CPSC’s therapists are working towards licensure, we are able to offer you therapy starting from $50/session. Regardless of what you pay, you will receive quality care that is tailored specifically to your needs.

Our offerings include:

  • Psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families

  • Groups for various communities

  • Internships for pre-licensed clinicians (MFTs, LCSWs and LPCCs)

Peter Coster, PhD, MDiv, MFC

Executive Director

I have over 30 years experience as a licensed psychotherapist working with couples and adults undergoing midlife transitions, relationship issues and existential identity crises. I work within a spirituality-informed contemporary psychoanalytic psychotherapy perspective, which draws upon Jungian, existential, relational and cognitive behavioral orientations.

I have been teaching, supervising and mentoring psychotherapists for over 10 years, including eight years as a clinical supervisor at the John F. Kennedy Center for Holistic Counseling in Oakland.

CLINICAL Director

Being an intern brings many challenges, possibly more than anything you have experienced before. My primary goal is to help you navigate these challenges and make the internship a successful learning and growing experience. I hope that we’ll gradually learn to know and trust each other. My intention is to be completely open and honest with you and I invite you to tell me if ever it does not appear to be that way. The supervisor is one of your primary resources during internship, and you are welcome to contact me any time with issues that arise in your practice.

My professional work includes psychotherapy with clients in private practice, supervising and training therapy interns, and adding human dimension to the working of high-tech companies.

WEB design

For me, working with graphic design hits sweet spot between introspection and creative expression; which is probably a similar balance that drew me to therapy in the first place. I spend most of my week as a therapist, and I am grateful to also bridge my interest in web design and therapy here at CPSC.

If you’re having any issues using this website please contact Ryan.
